Make 2021 the year you become rock-solid consistent with the practices that allow you to live a life of impact.

1. Choose your 3 foundational habits for 2021
2. Make them stick with habit-building tools + community of practice + scientific method
3. Cultivate the consistency, balance and energy you need to do what matters to you

year of practice cover

If I would _________ for one full year, I could _________.

If I would write every single day for one full year, I could finish the book that will revolutionize my organization.

If I would meditate every single day for one full year, I could learn how to remain calm in times of uncertainty and make better, more rational decisions.

If I would wake up one hour earlier every day for one full year, I would gain 365 hours of prime time to create, reflect, move, organize, and learn.

But consistency is hard to master.

It’s easy to get excited and try to do everything all at once, but it’s hard to sustain motivation and juggle all your projects and habits without getting overwhelmed (especially with ongoing lockdowns and all the changes 2020 has brought).

It’s easy to let work take over your lunch breaks, evenings, and weekends because you care about what you do, but it’s hard to find enough time to recharge, reflect, relax, energize, love, and play.

It’s easy to put other people’s priorities ahead of yours, because you believe in helping others and making a difference, but if you don’t have a set of consistent practices that allow you to remain balanced and centered, your ability to give and create will not last long.

Welcome to Year Of Practice: Here’s How It Works

1. One Year, 3 Practices — You Choose Yours.

When we try to change everything all at once, we are likely to fail. But if you take the time to build a solid foundation of a few keystone practices, everything else will soon follow.

For the whole year of 2021, you will focus on building one practice every three months. Slow, sustained, gradual progress is 1000x more effective than any quick fix.

Here’s how the cycle works:

Month 1: tiny habit, risk assessment, environment designMonth 2: review, troubleshooting, optimizingMonth 3: review, scaling up, maintaining
Then repeat x3, and at the end of the year reflect, integrate, and solidify.

2. We help you make these practices an integral part of your life by following 3 principles:

I. Start really, really small

We created this course for people who value their time highly and have a demanding schedule. The #1 most effective habit building methodology is to start so small that you can’t possibly find an excuse. Consistency comes first. Then build momentum, unlock insights, and scale up gradually.

II. Everything is an experiment (scientific method)

We will be taking a scientific approach to everything we do. There are no failures in the Year Of Practice — only hypotheses to be tested. Spending three months on each practice will give you a chance to experiment with different methods, overcome obstacles, and find the most effective way to integrate your new practice with your life.

III. Relational growth

There’s nothing quite like that special feeling of clarity that follows a good conversation with an attentive friend who is genuinely interested in your success and happiness.

We call this “relational growth”.

The best part of Year Of Practice is that you’ll be doing all this with the support of an amazing group of people — in a community of practice. This will be a space to grow together, experience a rich sense of belonging, support each other, and stay accountable throughout your journey. The group will help you create an impact that you could not possibly have on your own.

There will be interactive Zoom workshops where you’ll learn habit building and behavioral design tools and how to apply them to your own life. There will be open calls where you can troubleshoot any obstacles that might show up, brainstorm solutions and get support from others.

You will get access to an asynchronous community of practice where you can connect with other participants in between live-sessions, share resources, ask questions and create additional layers of support.

We will also guide you to self-organize in topic-related cohorts and find “thinking buddies” to help you add extra thinking power and accountability to your journey. On top of that, you’ll get access to additional workshops for members only exploring various areas of practical personal development.

3. By the end of 2021, you will have accumulated up to 365 days of consistent practice

Imagine ending 2021…

No longer procrastinating with the habits you know are fundamental to your well-beingWith a symbiotic relationship between your work, personal, and social life (instead of letting one of them cannibalize the others)Having unprecedented levels of energy, clarity, focus, and consistencyHaving a set of practices that keep you centered even when everything around you seems to be falling apartCompletely trusting yourself to maintain your foundational practices for a long, long time

“The structure of the calls is highly effective. The facilitation brilliantly mixes different ways to participate so that whether you are creative or logical, extroverted or introverted, quick to react or slower to process, there is space for you. I find these calls so valuable that I have adapted the format to use with the group that I am mentoring.

The Million Dollar Question:
Isn’t 1 year way too long of a commitment?

Think about it this way: this is not the only thing you’ll be doing in 2021.

Everything else in your life will stay the same: your work, your commitments, your current projects, the way you live your life.

But these things will be different:

You will have 11 workshops spread throughout the year to learn about behavioral design and habit building and apply it to your own lifeInstead of setting yourself random goal after random goal and quitting after a few weeks (“This time I’ll quit coffee for good!” or “This month I’ll do yoga, finish my book, and learn Spanish”), you will focus on three keystone practices of your choice and make them stick for goodYou will have optional open calls and a community you can resort to whenever you feel demotivated or lost, at any point throughout the year

Your Instructors: Silvia and Michal

Silvia is a habit coach, writer, and team facilitator. Michal is a productivity coach, workshop designer and community weaver. We have been creating immersive learning experiences for groups for over a decade, and we have helped dozens of people change their habits successfully.

Over the past 4+ years, we radically changed our lifestyle through habit change. Meditation, yoga, community building, writing, growing our own food, maintaining deep connections — these are only a few of the habits we do on a daily basis (sometimes with unbroken habit streaks of more than 200 days!)

“Silvia and Michal are amazing coaches who deeply care about their students."

Private onboarding session with Silvia and Michal

“Look, I'll be honest. I am one of those messy guys - not extremely healthy, not super sporty, and I always feel I could be better. By chance I came across Silvia and Michal and their methodology (...) to do incremental improvements in those habits I wanted to improve (starting by eliminating refined sugar from my diet). I was deeply impressed about it, about how clear it is and how it allows you to combine those small gains every day to carry on and stay motivated.”

I had more concrete progress during the short time I worked with Michal and Silvia than I was able to create by myself over years of allowing thoughts and ideas to swirl in the back of my mind. They left me feeling really excited to have gotten my butt kicked into gear and empowered to turn my ideas into reality!”

“Silvia and Michal helped me find clarity and follow through with my first habit: walking three times a week. It worked because they made it stupidly easy by setting times, preventing obstacles, and creating accountability. A month later, my migraines were gone, my blood tests dramatically improved, and now I love walking so much that I increased the frequency. I feel so powerful that I started working on other goals, such as yoga for my hips, and optimizing my productivity at work”.

FAQ

When does the course start?

The onboarding calls will start on the 11th of January 2021. You’ll be able to pick a slot that suits you.

BUT, since this is a big commitment, we’ll ask you to take some time to reflect on the practices you want to focus on before the course begins. When you enroll, we’ll send you an introductory workbook which will guide you through the process of choosing your three most important practices for 2021. It won’t take much of your time, but it’s the kind of work that requires some mental incubation, so the sooner you enroll, the more you can take out of this process.

Workbook

When are the Workshops and Open Calls?

We’ll be meeting for bi-weekly sessions on Thursdays at 6pm UTC (Berlin: 7pm / London: 6pm / NY: 1pm / LA: 10am) for 1h30. The sessions alternate between Live Workshops and Open calls.

The first workshop is on the 14th of January 2021, and the first open call two weeks later – 28 January. Our last session is the retrospective scheduled for 16 December 2021.

Note: there are no sessions in June.

The dates of the bonus workshops and meetups will be announced throughout the year.

What if I can’t attend a call or a workshop?

That’s okay — we will record every session and share it with all the participants. You can watch it in your own time and connect with other participants in between calls. However, we recommend attending as many as you can, as the value is in the group process.

A year is a long time, and I’m a busy person. Can I do this?

Absolutely. The course materials and workshops won’t require more than a couple hours a month. Everything on top of that will be the time you dedicate to building your own foundational practices. We will start really small so you will barely feel a change in your schedule, and then gradually we’ll help you carve out the necessary time to scale up.

What if I want to build more than 3 practices?

Less is more. Think about it this way: the right practices are those that make the whole rest of our life easier, like a domino effect. They’re called “keystone habits”. If you choose the right keystone habits and make them stick, pretty much everything else becomes a good 90% easier.

How do I know which practices are the most important to me?

After you enroll, we will send you instructions for you to find the 3 main practices (or at least your first one) to focus on in 2021. You should do this before the course begins so you come prepared for the first session (again, this is why we recommend that if you want to enroll, the earlier the better so you have time to reflect without any rush).

I already have some habits and practices that I’m fairly consistent with. Will it still be helpful for me?

Heck yes. This course is both for people who are new to habit building (but are committed to dedicate time to the practices that matter to them) and for those who have been doing the work but feel they could still better manage their time and discipline. You will learn fresh methods to add to your repertoire, and the group accountability and collective brainstorming will add an invaluable dimension to your personal development.

What are thinking buddies, and how can I get one?

Once you’re in the course, we will show you how to form pairs and small groups for thinking together, maintaining motivation and momentum, and supporting each other. We will run an extra workshop for whoever is interested in self-organizing in that way.

I would like to pay quarterly, but what if by the end of 3 months I want to quit? How do I cancel my future payments?

We know that your circumstances might change throughout the year. Just let us know and we’ll cancel your future payments with no questions asked. We’ll always send you a reminder before your next payment.

I’m super committed, and I want to pay for the entire programme straight away.

We love your commitment and we can offer you a discounted single payment of €499. This offer expires once we close the enrollment.

Is this really worth it, or just a bunch of mumbo-jumbo? Still not sure if this is for me. Convince me.

We know we are biased, so we’ll just let our previous clients and students speak for us.

Here is what people who have attended our courses and done coaching with us are saying:

“I am very distractible and always have too many things to do, which makes holding space for creating the next level virtually impossible. Well, Silvia and Michal have helped me achieve the impossible! They create the space, provide the structure and hold the focus so that things actually happen. They know which step comes next. And they are 'super good' at celebrating successes, which, quite frankly, makes all the difference.”

“I have completely stopped smoking, drinking and taking recreational drugs. In turn this has drastically improved my meditation practice and spiritual life. It helped me to become vegan, which is something I had my sights on for a while. I have started to do more exercise and eat healthier, start to match my behaviour with my values with regards to compassion, and no longer use TV as a way to numb my emotions. I have much healthier sleeping habits. One by one, I have been able to improve every area of my life! ”

“The biggest trepidation in signing for this course was sharing our thoughts with other people, but I’m glad I took this step–I’ve learnt so much from everybody, and it was a great way to help me pull everything together. Sometimes personal development content can get quite airy-fairy, but information and resources in the MJS course were really solid and applicable, and I want to continue with this process.”
– Sandy White

"I was struggling with many different pieces of my life and this program really helped. The discussions we’ve had on a bi-weekly basis and the resources offered at the end of each module sparked insights that showed me something familiar but in a completely new way. While I still struggle with difficult things, the course helped me to accept myself as I am, and I feel grateful for this.”
